ArcelorMittal is proud to be the only steel company selected to receive the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s funding to research an industrial-scale solution for carbon capture from our blast furnace-based steelmaking operations at Burns Harbor.
Together with Dastur Energy, M. N. Dastur & Co. (P) Ltd. and ION Clean Energy, we will research an industrial-scale solution for carbon capture from our blast furnace-based steelmaking operations. This FEED study, a crucial first step, will work on designing a carbon capture system capable of capturing 50-70% of CO2 emissions from blast furnace gas. This research will help identify available technology to enable competitive, environmentally friendly, sustainable blast furnace based process for making low carbon emissions steel.
