An avid problem-solver, Saikat has collaborated in projects with global players such as ArcelorMittal Dofasco, POSCO, Nucor Steel, Hyundai Steel, Tata Steel, Rio Tinto and JFE. He has more than 30 publications in international journals and conferences. He has worked extensively on operational improvement in steelmaking and refining and continuous casting, using principles of fluid dynamics, computational thermodynamics, pilot scale tests and plant trials. Whenever Saikat is not solving client problems or writing papers, he is on the lookout for next journal to publish a solution for process improvement in the process industry.
Apart from being actively associated with organizations such as Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST), Iron and Steel Institute of Japan, Canadian Institute of Metallurgy, Mining and Petroleum, Saikat is a three time winner of the Smith graduate scholarship from AIST and the prestigious US Steel Fellowship in 2016. He completed his B. Tech from NIT Durgapur, M.Sc. from McGill University, and PhD from University of Toronto.
